Musical Notes in KeenFx

This may already be common knowledge for many, but when I began using KeenFx I had no grasp of how the numbers relate to musical notes. I have since obtained this information and have added a mini-tutorial to the KeenWiki article on KeenFx. Please refer to this for some potentially useful guidance o...

The Earth Implodes Version 1.1

If you go back to my site on the above link you'll find the updated version of my mod, with altered levels featuring nerfed difficulty, in response to feedback received on PCKF. Go ahead and take a look!

NEW MOD!!!! The Earth Implodes

This section is looking a little lonely of late. So... have a Keen1 mod. Thanks as always to the people who have put in so much work on patches and modding software over the years, I hope some of you guys who might not go on PCKF so much take a look at - and enjoy - this mod I've made. I gotta say K...

Re: Keenball

As promised I have played this. Extremely cool and novel mechanic. A few little glitches, the most bothersome being that the crosshairs are not consistently displayed resulting in difficulty navigating successfully. But thanks for making the stuff of imagination a reality once again. Now. Please mak...

Re: Keenball

Working 7 consecutive nights right now but as soon as comfortably sat in front of PC will check this out! Happy Belated Keen Day (and early St Patrick's Day). On a more sombre note, I hope you are okay in the wake of the terrible attack that has taken place in your country, unprecedented in severity...

Re: Levellass' Softdisk Library page helped hack fax machines

Very amusing! Finally keen modding has been put on the map.

Disquietingly, fax is still a core means of communication both within and between hospitals in the British Isles, especially Ireland. If we get hacked, I'm blaming Levellass!

Re: "Luna", a Keen4 Mod in progress

I played Keen1 first on an 8086 machine and years later ported Keen4 over to said machine via the 'Laplink' software from an early 21st century computer and it played perfectly (sans Adlib sounds), albeit taking a considerable time to initiate. That said, that fleeting "Please Wait" image in Keen 1 ...

Re: K1 mod "Planet Of Agony"

And likewise we are only joking about your level difficulty. I am enjoying the deliberate playability and pleasantness of these new levels! Just as I always thoroughly enjoyed even the most irkesome material in mods such as the infamous Smile.

Re: DISCUSSION: Keen 6 level design.

The OK blocks remind me a bit of some of the (many) really crappy looking details from my own mods, and I can understand to some extent how they end up in the game. They probably drew that tile relatively early in the production of the game, and probably got used to its presence to they point that t...

Re: NY00123's tests level

Very interesting idea for a modding projects to be sure!! What I'm wondering is, have you or anyone else got any ideas how to graphically present such gameplay in the 2D setting? I think that is a difficult challenge to pull off. The obvious is some kind of "plasma" animated tile that would be incor...

Hi Kohntarkosz, good to see you still knocking around these parts, as "The Search for the Sentinel" was one of my very favourites from the early modding era. Unfortunately there is no way I would have the time to collaborate with you but I applaud your continued involvement with Keen modding. I woul...

A young Benvolio, before learning a little bit of self-restraint, had 120x120 as his preferred level dimensions and never had problems at this size. I think 200 was the widest I ever used to make my levels but it's been a while. I also was probably limited by what Andy's KeenWright could tolerate.

Thank you, Quinton. There are a few big posters such as Stealthy71088 and Xky who have posted far more extensively in K:M. Most of those presominantly K:M users are people like Xky and Xtraverse and of course Levellord, whose involvement with the community has become very slight over the course of t...

I don't know the names of the levels of Keen3 well enough to comment on which ones should be required but I definitely think that even having ten mandatory levels would make it a very lightweight game compared to the rest of the Keen franchise let alone most significant games of the past two and a h...
