Pretty much this.
There's a pretty solid set of level concepts to work from here and here.
It would be helpful if someone could build a skeleton tileset to work from. Basically outlines of platforms and scenery to be filled in later. This way we can actually start getting the structure of the levels in place.
You could also try playing around with the map. Just make sure you make a copy of the existing one in the Dropbox in case we need to revert.

Well, steal if you want to :)
I don't care if it'll be ckcm or another mod - just pity to have all this art go to waste.
I feel this is a time to decide - we go on with it - or scrap the idea and donating art to levellass :)
First - we need to remind ourself where we got stuck. Mapping? Art? Tiles? Coding? Story?

There is a DropBox for it, you can see alot of stuff there....are you invited there? If you wanna be part of this - ask someone to send you invitation.Nospike wrote:I think the most important problem right now is that the entire ckcm ordeal can be very confusing to newcomers such as me.

Yeah but accessibility is still a problem. I'm not very interested in participating sadly as I don't have time to commit to yet another project, but I've considered it in the past and this is what set me back. The most important things to summarize are the story and the special gameplay elements like the lick/slug thingy or new Keen's abilities.
And I for one would do levels, but have you SEEN the description for how to do them?
(EXP|[MIN,MAX]): DATA Field_2 Description
...
(EXP|[MIN,MAX]): DATA Field_n Description
The final value of a control tile is (TYPE * 4096) + DATA. Within the DATA, there may be separate fields defined by an EXPonent and a 2's complement value between MIN and MAX.
DATA fields are computed by:
2^EXP * (M + N), where
N is chosen by level maker such that MIN <= N <= MAX; and
M = 0 if N >= 0, or
M = MAX + 1 if N < 0
All data fields are summed.
There's 33Kb of this! Without carriage returns!
